Iris Nobile EDP - Acqua di Parma - Review

Acqua di Parma has created a new chypre blend verison of Iris Nobile, being released in EDP form.

Iris Nobile being one of my favorite fragrances, I was anxious to try the new version, I guess we are always wanting something closer to perfection.
So today I'm testing one on each arm to report the differences - They both start out rather similar, but the EDP is a bit richer. Within minutes the new EDP begins to evolve into something musky and indolic while the EDT side stays liner. Those who like a nice indolic bouqet will be pleased as the mid notes last for quite awhile before settling back down into the mutual Iris Nobile base. Thus in the end the two fragrances meet again. However the EDP is longer lasting. For me, I'll stick with my EDT, I love the light freshness of it.

Here is the release info from Acqua di Parma: "Iris Nobile is a refined fragrance for women, which blends the discreet elegance of flowery notes with a sophisticated chypre accord. The most sophisticated and stylish scent within classic perfumery.

This new interpretaion of iris noble opens with pure crystal-clear notes of bergamot, tangerine and star anise to evolve into a flowery yet intense heart thanks to the iris and ylang-ylang accord. Warm notes of patchouli and oak musk enhance this refined bouquet, while ambrette crystals and vanilla infusion give the fragrance its soft and sensual scent.

A vibrant and modern interpretation of a classic chypre, Iris Nobile eau de parfum is a celebration of a discreet, yet charismatic feminity. "

As far as I know the only place to get this so far is Senteurs d'Ailleurs in Brussels.

Sounds lovely, Vic-
When it's available, I'll gladly sniff...

Hope you're well, and rested.

Indolic? Sounds like I need to just skip to this new version rather than testing the first out! Also, I notice as I get older that the more chypre-inflected a fragrance is, the more I seem to gravitate back to it. Or maybe it's just because I smell more stuff now, rather than getting older? I don't know. Either way... indolic iris and ambrette? Mmmmmmm! Guess I'm just not quite a light fresh kind of gal :P

Hi Katie, yes, this will be more you. However it's not very chypre-ish. But more indolic. The EDT is composed like Marc Jacobs Blush. Which I happen to love, so I'm sticking with the EDT.
:O)
