My Dad was born in Louisville, Kentucky. He pronounced his birthplace as "lou-a-vol", or something close to that.

He pronounced Ohio - "a-hi-a".

On this his birthday - March 27, 1914
I thought I'm pay tribute to some of the things he loved:

Mail Pouch Tobacco
Wiedemann Beer
Cincinnati Reds Baseball
Geography
Bulk chocolate
Coconuts
Cheese
Raisin Bran
Squirrel hunting
Guns
German
One arm pushups
Chryslers
Bees
Snakes
Cats
Fast cars
Muscle t-shirts
Conductor caps
Tracking the weather
Lawrence Welk
Gunsmoke
Being underestimated
Sleeping in late
Me

Oh Victoria--
What a sweet tribute to your father on his birthday.

I am from the South --so I totally identify with the pronunciaton of Louisville and squirrel hunting!

My Grandmother was born in 1914 also. She tracks the weather and loves Lawrence Welk too. I have such fond memories of watching Lawrence Welk with my Grandma.

Parisjasmal, Wow, both born in the same year! I bet we have many stories in common.

My Dad tracked the weather everyday on his work claendar, the highs the lows, the rain fall and the snow. For many years that the local radio station would sometimes call him to check back on the weather highs and lows on certain days.

Thanks Terry, he really was a hard working, honest and simple man. I wish I would have listened to him more rather than risiting his geography lessons (Which I had no interest in).
